1. POWER ON (press and hold the POWER button long) before you start your activity. LED #1 and #3 flash, the Live-Tracking is starting.
2. Place the A*LIVE under the open sky for at least 5 minutes until LED #3 and LED #4 are green. On your PC or smartphone, open the TripView website we provided in the setup email. If
after a few minutes you see your position on the map, the à TEST is OK!
3. If the A*LIVE is not moved for more than 15 minutes it will fall asleep to save battery. As soon as it feels a movement or vibration, it wakes up again.
4. Switch off: Press the POWER button 3 times quickly after you have finished your activity. LED #1 turns orange and then turns off (network required!)
Always test the device before leaving! (Function TEST) The device is a supplement, not a replacement for other safety measures!
For maximum uptime, your device will fall asleep automatically if it is not moved for more than 15 minutes. As soon as it feels a vibration, it will start operating again. When the
battery charge level reaches about 10%, the A*LIVE switches itself off to save energy for emergencies. You can then use the A*LIVE again for a few minutes before it switches itself
How can I still save the battery?
Pack the A*LIVE warm and do not place the device under roofs etc. as long as it is switched on! In Iridium mode the device connects to the satellite regularly to check for new
messages that might be waiting for you - even if tracking mode is deactivated. Therefore you should allow a clear view to the sky, so that not too much energy is needed for this
connection to satellites.
The A*LIVE will fall asleep and wake up automatically under the following conditions:
+ 15 min not-moving
+ GPS speed 0 km/h
1. place the A*LIVE centrally on the QI charge pad (inductive charge)
2. make sure that the charge pad is activated (e.g. when using PowerBanks without power) If the ALIVE is completely empty, the placement may be "sensitive" to a few
3. during the charging process the blue LED on the charger lights up - additionally only on the switched on A*LIVE the POWER-LED #1 red, when fully charged green.
10 seconds after disconnecting from the charger the A*LIVE can be switched on.
A functional TEST should be done before each use.
1. Position the A*LIVE in the open air for at least 5 minutes until LED#3 and LED#4 are green
2. Open the TripView website we have provided in the setup e-mail on your PC or smartphone
3. After a few minutes you should see your position on the map

LifeSaverSmartSafetyWhat is SmartSafety?
What is SmartSafety?
Calls for help ... even if you can't do it yourself!
Automatic monitoring & emergency call system for early recognition of critical situations. Reduces rescue response times by up to 90%. With companion rescue navigation.
Every year more than 20,000 people are involved in accidents in the outdoor sector.
Things usually only become critical when friends and helpers do not become aware of them early enough.
Or do not know your exact position.
Or no emergency call at all is possible because only 10% of the earth is covered by mobile phone networks.
We deliver the missing 90% via satellite.
And we call attention to you early enough.
With your exact location.
SOS : What happens if...?
For each scenario (e.g. manual SOS or automatic CRASH/HALT alarm) different notification chains with a 2-step escalation can be created. Example: First SmartSafety reports your
position via SMS/email to friends and team for companion rescue. At their request or after a timeout, without reaction, professional rescue facilities such as mountain rescue or
coastguard (via 112/GEOS) are then activated, which if necessary continue to communicate with you or your stored emergency contacts.
1. Profiles: set the monitoring scenarios for your activity
2. Tours: set the geofences (SAFE, DANGER and REST zones)
3. Notifications: store your alarm recipients (SMS, EMail, Telegram, ...)
4. Trace: compile who is alerted, when and at which event
5. Contacts: enter the emergency contacts that can be contacted by a rescue control centre such as GEOS in the event of an SOS or escalation!
The technical data

FAQA*LIVE App - Pairing with the Smartphone
For what purpose should I connect the device to the smartphone via Bluetooth.
To use the app together with your A*LIVE
Primary messaging, maps...
For what purpose is this necessary or useful. What is the Bluetooth pairing> code?
You do not need a code. Bluetooth on your smartphone, start the app and click on Connect settings
How does the device behave against salt water, or on the beach in case of spray and desert?
The device is completely protected against the penetration of dust
It floats by itself, is waterproof. Protection against temporary immersion, up to 0.5m depth
A*LIVE LEDs & BUTTONS
Can the light be switched off? The flashing consumes energy first. Not that the battery is empty before the SOS was sent...
The flashing + Noice + Vibration when the SOS is active is used to draw attention to alarms and to avoid false alarms and to generate attention in case of emergency when the SOS is active.
Activations: Tariff and Alarm Activations
A*LIVE has one tariff activation and 2 alarm levels (notifications and escalations to GEOS if necessary).
1) The TARIFF activation is required for your device to be able to connect at all, both in the mobile network and in the Iridium network.
In each A*LIVE tariff, the annual fee initially only activates the mobile phone tariff and puts the Iridium tariff in "stand-by". The other tariffs differ only in terms of Iridium
In the BASIC tariff and in Safety & Tracking the Iridium activation is always automatic: As soon as you move out of the mobile phone range with an A*LIVE switched on (GSM/4G
required), the Iridium tariff is automatically activated (after 10 minutes) and remains active until the A*LIVE in the GSM/4G range has been switched off normally. You do not need to
activate the tariff in the system.
In all other tariffs (except BASIC) you can set the Iridium activations for monthly and weekly periods via this page:
If you want to use the day-by-day activation, this is possible via the satellite symbols in the SmartSafety dashboard.
2) Alarm activations differ between Notifications - where friends/family/team are entered as the first alarm recipients - and Escalations - where alarms are sent to rescue control centers
such as GEOS.
These can be switched on and off at several locations:
In the Dashboard, in the Trace Map and in the Trace Settings.
Smart Battery Saver
For maximum uptime, your device will fall asleep automatically if it is not moved for more than 15 minutes. As soon as it feels a vibration, it will start operating again. Here also a GPS
speed measurement is carried out to avoid that the gyro sensor does not feel any vibration during particularly quiet movements (e.g. paragliding), but nevertheless a movement above ground
How can I still save the battery?
Wrap the A*LIVE warm and do not place the device under roofs etc. as long as it is switched on! In Iridium mode, the device tries to connect to the server regularly to check for new messages,
which may be waiting for you - even if tracking mode is deactivated. Therefore you should allow a clear view to the sky, so that not too much energy is needed for this connection to
satellites and server.
What limits the irididum satellite reception?
The human body shields radio waves because it is 70% water. This means that a satellite signal travels 780 km, but has little chance of passing through the body. Therefore A*LIVE should
always be carried high up, with a view of the horizon.
other possible causes:
- Storm, heavy rain
- Gorges, mountain ranges
- tall buildings
In these environments it is not impossible to have reception, but there may be long delays in data transmission (10-30 minutes). Since the satellites are constantly in motion, even under
unfavourable conditions, they can sometimes detect a "gap" in the canyon.
Data consumption management
Where can I see which subscription I have and what is already used up (e.g. number of messages in the current month)
Devices ->Comments: Your current tariff is entered here
To check the data consumption you can always send us an email and we can give you an update manually.
What are all"messages" and will be added to or subtracted from the credit balance?
Sent and received mails + SMS. (everything that is not tracking)
Under"Handlers" I can also set up status messages such as "Swicht-to-Iridium" or "End-Charge", which then inform me about the smartphone.
Or any other person
As a dealer, we recommend that you only store real text messages.
Things like"Swicht-to-Iridium" or "End-Charge" can be recognized on A*LIVE itself.
Are these"Handlers" also deducted from the message credit?
If I send a handler, e.g. to 15 recipients (Email or SMS), is this considered 1 data unit or 15 data units?
As one data unit, the number of recipients of preset messages can be chosen arbitrarily. There are no additional costs for Email / Telegram, per SMS possibly 0,10 Euro after exhausting
the SMS inclusive volume.
Is it an advantage here if the smartphone is connected via Bluetooth, so that these handlers do not run over the GSM network but directly to the smartphone?
The tariff remains active until you have specified a standby appointment.
Please use the following form:
Is it possible to change the tariff during the year?
The annual fee of the BASIC remains the same, but you can change to the other higher tariffs monthly free of charge.
Activate/deactivate topic StandBy:
So far I have understood that for € 9 I can buy an active period of 7 days and use it for 7 consecutive days.
You have understood that correctly.
Or does the standby simply serve to interrupt the billing of the selected tariff level, i.e. not simply book another period of 7 days?
Exactly, because with the standby mode you deactivate or activate your last selected tariff.
Is a change, e.g. from 30 days to 7 days within the same tariff a downgrade that is subject to a charge or does this only apply if I change from messaging to tracking tariff, for
There is no charge for changing from month to day within A*LIVE Safety&Messaging. If you change from A*LIVE Safety&Messaging to A*LIVE Safety&Tracking, for example, you will incur
a downgrade fee of €25.
In the form there is no possibility to book an active period of 1 day, in the rate schedule this possibility is mentioned.
To activate week or month please use the form.
In order to be able to switch to the daily tariff, a lock is stored for security reasons, which we can release manually.
The days activation is then done via your personal dashboard.
To avoid false alarms, you can cancel every self-triggered alarm (press SOS 3 times again), which is passed on to all alarm receivers.
The same applies to automatic alarms that are detected by the SmartSafety System in the background. (orange LEDs 1+2+3 flash). These can also be acknowledged by pressing SOS 3 times.
Insurance for false alarms
There is no insurance from our side for false alarms.
A possible cost coverage must be clarified with your insurance company.
Do I have to switch off A*LIVE during an airline flight or is there a flight mode?
Since A*LIVE works in the GSM network, just like a smartphone, it should be switched OFF (depending on the airline's guidelines).
How can I insure myself for rescue and recovery costs?
To cover rescue and recovery operations, we recommend various insurance companies, e.g. GEOS, DAV or Allianz. Please check whether your existing (health) insurance already includes"SAR"
(Search and Rescue) search and rescue operations! It may be advisable to upgrade your insurance to cover larger missions.
Satellite hotspot for your Smartphone > what does it mean?
Transmission of messages from the A*LIVE App, text communication (Email + SMS etc.), even if you don't have GSM reception, i.e. the Iridium satellite network is used.
Sleep mode of the device
For maximum operation time, your device will fall asleep automatically if it is not moved for more than 15 minutes. As soon as it feels a vibration, it will start operating again. Here also a
GPS speed measurement is carried out to avoid that the gyro sensor does not feel any vibration during particularly quiet movements (e.g. paragliding), but nevertheless a movement above ground
Somehow I have a mess between live tracking and trip sharing. By trip-share I mean that I can display and also send tracks I have done. By Live-Tracking I mean that the current location of a
running track can be displayed or tracked continuously.
Trip-Share offers to share a completed trip or a current trip (LiveTracking )with friends and family.
How can I generate a link and send it to other people?
Trips - DreiPunkte (top right) - Open --> TripView opens, you can share this URL or integrate it into your website.
I would like to implement the live tracking on my own Wordpress site as well. How do I have to proceed, or do I get a URL which I can then integrate via iFrame?
Create link under: Trips - DreiPunkte (top right) - Open --> TripView opens, you can share this URL or integrate it into your website.
For integration into your website as iFrame:
What is the difference between the menu items "Trips" and "Pages"?
Pages is a simple listing of all trips.
Under Trips, several clicks must be made to get to the TripView page.
Module Tripshare and SmartSafety: For what purpose do I record "Contacts"? Can I call them up again somewhere and do not have to enter the same number several times?
These are for GEOS only to be able to access these contacts in an emergency.
The people stored in notifications are not taken into account by GEOS.

Networks and connectionsGPS satellite network
The device needs a clear view of the sky to acquire the signals from the GPS systems (NavStar, Glonass, Galileo) in order to calculate its current position and obtain the time stamp.
The more satellites are "seen" by the device, the more accurate is the positioning. Under unfavourable reception conditions (canyons, under roofs, etc) this can result in deviations
of 100 or more metres. Immediately after the start of the device (usually within the first 2-5 minutes) the positioning is still inaccurate for technical reasons.
GSM und 4G / 5G Netzworks
The A*LIVE has an eSIM built in, which can log into almost all GSM (2G/4G) networks worldwide. It automatically connects to the best available network at the
respective location. In the 4G area, the new "NB-IoT" technology according to NB1 / M1 standard is used, which is currently being activated by more and more countries. It will remain
available when upgrading to 5G.
Iridium satellite network
The device requires a clear view of the sky to transmit messages and track points via the Iridium satellite network. Without a clear view of the sky, the device
will attempt to transmit data until it detects satellite signals.
Restricted reception or very delayed transmissions are to be expected in narrow mountain or house canyons or dense forests.
TIP: You get the best satellite connection if you carry the device on your backpack (top) or on your upper body. Limitations: Iridium works technically global, for
Russia a pre-registration is necessary, in India satellite systems are generally prohibited. Other countries where you should get up-to-date information before importing and using
Iridium are China, Cuba, Chad, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Libya, Nigeria, North Korea, Sri Lanka, Sudan (status 2018).
Which topics can I automate or read out with the Rest-API?
This only makes sense in communication server to server.
But all data of the device can be exchanged.
Interest in the API: Please send us a short mail to email@example.com

RESET: Press the POWER button during charging.
OTA Update: The A*LIVE can download its own updates!
With each new firmware update we will send you a corresponding mail with the instructions for the update.
With the device on the charging station switched on, keep the LIGHT BUTTON pressed until the A*LIVE lights up blue.
GSM/4G network coverage
The A*LIVE has a chipSIM built in, which can log into almost all GSM (2G/4G) networks worldwide. It automatically connects to the best available network at the respective location. In the 4G
area, the new "NB-IoT" technology according to NB1 / M1 standard is used, which is currently being activated by more and more countries.
After 10 minutes without GSM or 4G connection the A*LIVE tries to establish a connection via Iridium (LED #4 changes from blinking to steady light).
In Iridium mode, A*LIVE searches for a GSM/4G connection every 12-15 minutes and logs back into it if necessary.
ATTENTION: Depending on the tariff type (e.g. ALIVE BASIC) the satellite tariff does not work if you switch off the device in GSM mode and then switch it on again in an area without GSM
coverage (Iridium coverage)!
Please pay attention to the notes on your tariff!
