Avalanche airbag sets automatic emergency call signal
The coupling of an ABS avalanche airbag with the newly developed ProteGear lift tracker is innovative. If the airbag is triggered during an avalanche, the tracker automatically makes an emergency
call. The mountain rescue can thus be informed even more quickly. Markus Schlittenbauer, Managing Director of ProteGear, believes that time is the critical factor when it comes to saving lives.
"You run out of air after 15 minutes and so time is of the essence if you want to help someone".
The new inReach Mini makes it possible to contact the 24/7 accessible GEOS emergency call center in case of emergency, even if there is no mobile phone reception. In addition, interactive two-way communication provides the ability to send and receive messages and share GPS location data. Due to its compact size of 9,9cm x 5,2cm x 2,6cm, the handheld is easy to stow away and does not burden the luggage with its 100 grams.
